Harbour Fish Bar
The shadow of last week’s devastating fire at the Grand Burstin Hotel is still hanging heavy over Folkestone, with local residents still displaced and the fire services having been called out again during the week. It’s also been a tough time for local businesses, with local roads cordoned off and many nearby businesses losing trade because of it.
Earlier this week, we popped down to the Harbour Fish Bar to grab some lunch and show some love. The Harbour Fish Bard is a family-run restaurant, a lot bigger than most places selling Fish and Chips, it has a warm, and welcoming feel and makes you feel at home right away.
Following the fire at the Grand Burstin Hotel last week they put out a Facebook post with a special offer, and explained how the local road closures are affecting them.
We tried some freshly caught huss, also known as rock fish, brought straight in by Folkestone’s own local trawlers, I didn't know they did local fish and had never tried huss before, I would definitely recommend going down there to try something different. We also heard that local MP Tony Vaughan, had popped in to show his support and check in on how they were coping.
Stepping Up and Adapting
The team isn't just waiting for the roads to reopen, either. They’ve just launched a brand-new delivery service covering a 3-mile radius around the restaurant, available from their website. They have also stepped in to host an upcoming event which was due to be held at the Grand Burstin.
Show Some Love for Local
Folkestone loves it's independent shops, eateries, and family businesses, so if you have time to get down to the harbour area on your lunch break pop in and show your support.
