Radio Folkestone is looking for an organised, enthusiastic volunteer to lead our fundraising and help keep the station on air.

As Fundraising Coordinator, you will plan and run fundraising activities, find new sources of funding and build relationships with local businesses, supporters and community groups. Your work will help pay for the equipment, training and programming that serve the people of Folkestone.

No previous fundraising experience is needed. Training and support are provided.

  • Good written and spoken communication skills

  • Strong organisation and the ability to plan ahead and meet deadlines

  • A friendly, confident manner when approaching people and businesses

  • Reliability and honesty when handling donations and records

Time commitment

The role takes about 4 to 6 hours a week, and most of it can be done at times that suit you.

  • Weekly work: around 4 to 6 hours of research, writing, emails and planning, which can be done from home

  • Meetings: a monthly catch-up with the station team

  • Events: occasional evening or weekend fundraising events, with plenty of notice

  • Training: an initial induction to the station and its funding plans

  • Length of commitment: we ask volunteers to commit for at least 6 months

Busy periods, such as around events and grant deadlines, may need a few extra hours.

What we offer

Volunteers gain real fundraising experience, free training and a place in a friendly local team.

  • Full induction and training, with no experience needed

  • Support from the station team and experienced volunteers

  • Flexible hours, with much of the work done from home

  • Practical skills in grant writing, event planning, sponsorship and relationship building

  • A chance to make a visible difference to a local community station

  • A reference and a recognised volunteering record for your CV

  • The chance to meet new people and get involved in Folkestone life
