Drivetime Presenter (Mon, Wed)
About the role
Radio Folkestone is looking for a friendly, reliable volunteer to host our Drivetime show on Mondays and Wednesdays, 4pm to 6pm.
Drivetime is when many of our listeners are heading home, so the show should feel upbeat, welcoming and local. You will play a mix of music, share community news and events, and be the friendly voice that keeps Folkestone company on the journey home.
No previous broadcasting experience is needed. Full training and support are provided.
Key responsibilities
The presenter plans, hosts and wraps up each two-hour Drivetime show.
Before the show
Choose and prepare music, features and links for the two hours
Gather local news, events, weather and travel updates
Arrive early to set up the studio and check equipment
During the show
Present live with a warm, upbeat and professional style
Operate the studio desk, playout system and microphones (full training given)
Read news, travel updates, community announcements and station promotions
Welcome guests and interview them where arranged
Follow Ofcom broadcasting rules and station policies
After the show
Hand over smoothly to the next presenter
Leave the studio clean and tidy, and report any technical faults
Help promote the show on the station's social media
Skills and qualities
We are looking for enthusiasm, reliability and a love of Folkestone more than broadcasting experience.

A clear, friendly and engaging speaking voice
Reliability and good timekeeping, especially for live shows
A genuine interest in music and local community life

Preparation: about 1 hour per show, planning music and content
